could you have instead of the cost of your plasma..

I just worked out i could go and see over a hundred films with my girlfriend if the ticket price was 7 quid..

Yes, I'm having a boring day at the office!

hahaha

so aslong as u keep ur panel for 2 years u get a great deal then assuming you go to the cinema once a week.
so do u wana go cinema once a week for 2 years or buy a plasma to use all every night for 2yrs +

mind you u just dont get that special feeling you get when some tw*t puts there big head in the way and the person behind you kicks your seat, if uv got kids thou im sure u cud get one to keep standing in front of plasma and one to kick ur sofa :rotfl:

Think how much you'll save on the popcorn - £3 a bucket?! On our last family visit the films cost £14 and the eats were £21.

Mind you if your plasma is also a reciever you have to pay the BBC over a ton a year for the privilege

You've failed to take into consideration the cost of electricity needed to run the plasma TV.

Mind you, this might be outweighed by the cost of petrol needed to get to the cinema.

 :smashin:

Don't forget you need to feed your new plasma with the movies you would have seen at the cinema for between £3 and £20 depending on how cheap you can buy or rent it. All of a sudden with the cost of the plasma plus the cost per film, that 100 films might end up being more like 200 ;)

Cheers,

Colin

I have 4 kids (3 old enough to take to the cinema). It is FAAAAR cheaper to get the films on DVD and watch them on a big plasma.

I only take my daughter to the cinema these days, I just get annoyed at the quality otherwise. And the seats are getting worse with the new cinema, not better.

If you add up the rrp of your display, dvd, amps and speakers, how many films could you see then? That's a scary thought.

me + 3 kids = 5.90 + (4.80 * 3) + 1.68 booking fee = £21.98

Drinks popcorn etc = £15 or so

Total: £37 or so a go.

New 506XDE + amp + Speakers etc = <gulp> approx 5k.

Hmm.. 135 journeys. That's not so bad really. I would cut the overall cost in half anyway, as we need to have a TV, so 2.5k is for movies, which leaves 67 cinema trips over a space of a 4 or 5 year lifespan. So 13- 16 trips per year. Once a month or so.

Not as bad as I thought!

Steve,

I'm going to pass the laptop over to my significant other just now and show her your sums. We're still a couple of years away from kids but I'll show her the numbers, tell her that in 2 years the kit will have depreciated so the "cost per viewing" will have lowered further, then see if that gets me a 436XDE.

I could sum up by saying "It's spending money now to save it in the future darling" :smashin:

It might just get be smacked over the back of the head though :D
