So i'm sat in the lounge a couple of nights back just mucking about on ebay , the girlf is waiting for eastenders to come on and there's this banging sound.
So i goto the front door and there's no-one there
The banging can still be heard so i goto the kitchen window and no-one's there either but the banging can still be heard.
Next i go into my bedroom which backs onto the flat carpark (my car is parked directly out side my bedroom window) i whip open the curtains and the crappy white nova that is parked next to mine (its been left there by the people who were living opposite me but have since moved out) has gone up in flames!

I have never moved so fast i can tell you! I ran to the kitchen and got my keys , jumped out the bedroom window and into the rover , i think there was more smoke pouring off my tyres as i moved it than there was from the nova!

Luckily the fire had just started so no damage to my car thanks god!

So i'm chatting to half the residnets in the flat and someone says " have you seen the one out front?" im thinking what the fluff! So i walk out of the alley which leads from the carpark to the front of the flats and in the car park opposite the flats there's a laguna up in flames!!

Seriously i thought Rushden wasn't too bad now i'm paranoid to death about parking the car anywhere within a 10 mile radius of this crappy town lolol

Oh my days what a night!

    Anyway here's a few pics!

Spot the white nova , my space is next to that on the right...

Apperntly the kids who lived opposite us with their single mum came back to the car and were trying to start it , couldnt get it going so torched it :nono:
I guess they were that annoyed they did the laguna on the way home :(

Oh well a bit of excitement and no damage done the the rover!

I'd airbrush out the number plate in photoshop on that first pic as publishing your registration number on the internet is generally not a good idea

holy :censored: that is not what you want outside your home.

You are indeed a lucky boy Jon, especially as it looks like you'd just polished your motor.

I always wondered, why isn't it a good idea? What is different compared to seeing it in the road?

Mylo and Dej - Thankyou very much!

As Mylo said , the foglights are on for the photo! I included the pic as a refernece to the fire pics to show where my car is parked everynight.

Dej - My thoughts exactly! If i drove a ferrari enzo or 911 or some other supercar then i may have blurred the plates but i dont think your everyday international car thief is on the lookout for a '93 rover :smashin:

I have to say Jon Boy that if I opened my curtains and saw a car on fire right under my nose that my first thought would not be 'where's my camera'!Do you walk around with it ,or am I just an old fart who's never bothered to use the 1.2 mp camera on my phone :D Still,as long as the Rover's OK.........

i think i slightly worded the description wrong lol , if you notice from the pics i had already moved the rover! I still had my slippers on at the time so then climbed back through the window to put my shoes on and get the camera lol

Nothing too sinister, it's just that it's a piece of personal information about Jon Boy that 6.5 billion people now have access to...

Most of them don't have access to vehicle registration databases, but some do and could now work out exactly who/where he is.

If he's not worried about that it's not a problem, but I have been advised a few times not to disclose my reg number on the www, perhaps I've fallen for urban myth :)

    Case in point,

Uridium, for example, shouldn't publish his registration number online

But isn't that like saying that everyone should drive around with no number plates on? same difference IMO but i do see what your getting at and like i said before , i had a £100k+ super car parked out back i may have blurred the plates.
I also try to blur plates of peoples cars when i post pics of them (from car shows etc or that are in the background of pics that i take) :smashin:

I'd probably be more concerned to show them with a very common car compared to a unique one....Reason being, it is much more likely to have the same colour, body style etc...and thus ringing for things like tickets and CC would make it easy....Whilst a super car is not that easy to ring, and just by knowing the plates that wouldn't do much....

And the case in point...Well whilst that is true, surely his car can't do that kind of speed so nobody believes it anyway :)

    Oops cross post with Jean:

Jon, I'm not worried about your car, and you shouldn't be either, just that someone could link up your forum name to a name and address if they wanted to.

    A small amount of research:

Jean-Paul, you're not a footballer but your family site is offline. ;-)

tracked down just off the information provided on this thread.

    Yes, I'm paranoid...

Nope the website is up and running! You must be on the banned list....And yes you will probably know my home address by now as well...But you know what there are much easier ways to find that out....

And how do you know I'm not that footballer...Have you checked my place of birth? And date of birth?

    Jean-Paul,
I am really sorry if I have offended you, I have no idea where your home address is, I didn't look.

I'm just trying to point out that it's far too easy for anyone to pick up personal information that is let slip and advising people not to divulge too much. I thought I was careful not to offend you personally, apologies if I did and went too far.

    My information :Footballer
Geboren: 17 oktober 1970 in Utrecht (Nederland).

Your profile has a close but different birthday.

    Sorry if I offended
