I got the 360 hd drive for xmas, purely as a starting point for high definition films, however, the noise the 360 makes just drives me up the wall when watching a film. It gets louder as the films goes on, and it just irritates me so much. The picture looks amazing, and I would love to start buying masses of hd films, yet the sound is just so off putting :suicide:

So I've decided to go for the hd-e1. I was strongly considering getting a decent upscaling player anyway such as the denon 1920, but reading through threads on here it says that the E1 is one of the best upscalers out there. So I might aswell pay an extra £150 or so and get HD-DVD support.

I am just wanting to know though, how loud is it? If it makes much noise at all then I will be strongly put off buying it. A little bit of a low humming noise is ok, as long as it is not intrusive during quiet parts of films, but if it is anything like the 360 noise then I will stear clear.

    Thanks :smashin:

    Much,much quiter than the Xbox360:thumbsup:

It used to put me off too, which is one of the reasons why i purchased a dedicated player.

Oh and so I could listen to TrueHd,DD+ and DTS-HD in all there glorry.

It is very quiet. There is a fan going all the time but it is a very very quiet fan. You can't hear the disc tray going and forget the fan sound after a short while.

I find it relatively noisy compared to the rest of my equipment but it is unintrusive and I can't hear it once the film starts.
