How long is the cable on a kinect?

Hi all, i am thinking of getting a xbox for my kids for christmas with a kinect, but was wondering how long the cable is as xbox would be around 2.5 metres from tv/kinect position? if i were to need an extension cable would a cheapy off ebay do? many thanks

It is 9 feet long.

As for the extension Id go with the official one, dont want bandwidth or signal interference issues.
