How long do you think we will have to wait for the next unlock hack?

Hi all,

Ive not had to worry about this before, but as my gf just bought a 3GS on ebay which is locked to O2 it recently came to my attention that due to it being on the latest firmware, its baseband has been upgraded to one that has yet to be hacked.

How long (like weeks/months/years?) do you think we would have to wait for it to be hacked? Is this something thats done relativly quickly by the hackers, or has this problem been about for years with no fix?

Thanks
Grangey :)

Get it locked by O2 for free on contract
Or £15 on pay and go. Takes ten minutes

It seems to be harder and harder to unlock newer basebands

It's a shame that apple seem to leave the vulnerability for jailbreaking yet the unlock gets much harder with each baseband. You would think they would be more bothered about jailbreak, with the amount of revenue they lose through it.

I've just bought a second hand PAYG 4. The owner restored it to latest firmware.
Does this mean I now have to pay O2 £15 if I want it unlocked?
