I've just got my repeat prescription through for my hay fever tablets and am unsure if I need any more this year. Can I keep this prescription until spring next year and use it then or does it run out after a certain length of time ? I'm concerned that if I get the tablets now and keep them until next year they might go past their expiry date.

I Can't answer how long the prescription lasts for but i think you'll find that the tablets have an exceptionally long shelf life.

A 'normal' FP10 is valid for 6 months, though a chemist may question one before this.It depends what it is for.Controlled drug scripts are at present valid for 13 weeks. These will be hand written. The Shipman enquiry felt 13 weeks was too long and has suggested this is decreased. As Adrenochrome stated most antihistamines will have a very long shelf life, years not months.
