I've got a modest budget of around £2000 for a projector, screen, speakers and receiver that will go towards creating a home theatre in my log cabin (dimensions are 8ft x 16ft). The space isn't ready yet but will be purchasing the following equipment in the coming weeks.

Initially I was interested in a 7.1 system but since reading many positive posts about the benefits of a 5.1.2 set up and installing ceiling speakers won't be a problem I think the following is the best I can afford but want advice from you guys.

      Denon AVRX2400
      £299 richersounds

      Q Acoustics 3010i 5.1
      5.1 Speaker Package
      £895 richersounds

      KEF CI130ER
      Ceiling Speakers Per Pair
      £199.95 richersounds

I'd love to buy an extra pair of the KEF 130's (only £199) and make it 5.1.4 but it's a steep jump from a 9 channel receiver to a 11 channel (£799 starting price).

Also is £399 for a Optoma HD143X a good enough portion of my budget. I figured it's the easiest thing to upgrade in future and can always be moved to another room when 4k projectors come down in price.

Final question what's the best deal I could go into richersounds and ask for if buying them all together?

      Thanks

Why you thinking of needing an 11 channel amp?

      You'll get 5.1.4 with a 9 channel amp.
I'm thinking of listing my Denon X4300 which is 9 channel and still under warranty in the classifieds as I'm just in the process of upgrading my whole system.Plus as it happens I have a brand new pair of KEF CI130's that I'm not going to use now and I'm in Cheshire so guessing if you're in Liverpool not too far away. If you're interested let me know

I am also looking at the kef 130 for my ceiling speakers. The big concern I have though is around the fact they don’t have a tweeter than can be swivelled and thefore not sure if they are any good at dispersion. Does anyone have a view on them?

Can recommend the denon amp. Had it for a week and really impressed

      Hi,

As for the 3010i package, I would suggest you buy yourself two pairs of 3010 satelites, add a 3090C, and with the remaining budget, you can buy a much better subwoofer than the one that comes with the package. BK or SVS...

yeah there's three to chose from with only the last two letters changed. The ones for £130 each have that swivelled tweeter I've seen shown in the official KEF videos. Worth paying the extra sixty quid for?

Really? On RicherSounds it says its a 7.1 and 5.1.2 receiver and I was just going off that.

In all fairness there isn’t a massive difference between the two models. I just put the 4400 as an ideal. But would still be interested in a 4300.

      Cheers
