Just ordered my new plasma (i'll not say which 'cos some people are sensitive about how many posts there are concerning it :smashin: ) However I was wondering whats the average height people mount their plasmas on the wall. (measuring floor to center of Screen)

Don't bother replying to this if you have installed above a fireplace, I'm looking for plain wall installation figures.

Oh and don't bother with 'whatever's comfortable for you' replies - this is a serious scientific survey!!

Can you post actual dimensions? eye level when seated is a bit vague (depends on your height, sofa height, reclining angle, etc)

I'm trying to guage what is the optimum height for 'most people'

That is the whole point though. If you have really low, soft, comfy couches then 100-120cm to the bottom of the screen (42") would be too high. 70-90cm would be more like it. I do work to slightly above seated eye level I have to admit, not much though and only if the viewer isn't too close to the screen.

I cut out a big piece of cardboard and tried at different heights. As a result I have knocked three courses of bricks of my fireplace to get a height that suits me. With a high backed chair and head back for relaxed viewing sticks the bottom of the screen just under 1m off the floor.

Whilst you may get odd comments from visitors about the cardboard plasma it's a good way to find your preference and takes into accounts you seats etc.

Surely the point is to get the optimum height for you isn't it.

Each to their own but optimum is when in your normal viewing position your eyes are level to the centre of the screen.

Some of the peoples set ups have them well above a fireplace etc etc  Personally that would give me a neck ache.

floor to centre measures 1380mm and is viewed at a distance of 3500mm. Normally viewed from a horizontal position holding a bottle of beer in one hand and sky remote in the other!

True (and belive me I will) however what if my extensive research showed that *REGARDLESS* of your height and the height of your sofa *everybody* puts their plasma at approximately the same height!? Wouldn't that be interesting? huh? wouldn't it? :lesson:

_ OK i'm just killing time until my Damn PV500 arrives ok :(

115 cm to centre at home for me. Low-ish squashy laid back sofas though. We usually recommend 70-110 cm to bottom of screen for our customers.
