looking at getting a pj the sony hs50 is not in stock so was thing about the Sanyo PLV-Z3 how good is is pj useing for pc to play games dvds etc pc only

My film making club has a PLV3 while I have a PLV2. Both are used only for watching videos or DVDs and were bought after looking carefully at all glowing reviews. We are really pleased with both machines.

I play PC games on my Z3 all the time (using HDMI input) - especially games that can be played in the native resolution of the projector - Half Life 2 , Far Cry, CAll of Duty add-on pack. It is unbelievably good. Also good for just sitting in the lounge, with the lights on, and simply just browsing the net - trying not to buy more AV / PC gear as I have spent enough already :)

Also good for movies - had 10 people around the other day - they all could not believe the quality (although I use a DVD player with component output for movies at the present time)

The Z3 is great - especially via HDMI at 1280x720 res. It has a 3 yr warranty and great picture - buy one, you won't be disappointed.

Is the Z3 any brighter than the Z2? The reason I ask is that I always felt the Z2 looked better in high fan mode, but then it was far too noisy... the minimum image I can throw in my room is 2.5m wide, which might be pushing it a bit.... Ideally I'd like a 3m wide image and then I can just take my glasses off to get rid of screen door. But is the Z3 bright enough to do this? Should I be considering the Panny Ae700 with the latest firmware (to reduce vertical banding)? Though whenever I see a panasonic, the picture always seems a bit too yellow, which is why I would prefer the Z3.

how do u get 1280x720 res mate i can only seem to get 1024 768 ?
im useing a ati rad 9800 xt

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro with mine - Display settings (in Win XP) let me set it to 1280 - 720 automatically - it had registered the fact that the Z3 is a widescreen display device

PS (remember to set the overscan to 0 on the Z3 menu)

Sony HS-50 is a better machine...simple as that...

I think may would agree, however he did say he wanted a BRIGHT projector. (brighter than the Z2) and the Sony is not exactly know for it's jaw dropping brightess from all the postings.

(Sad though it may be)
