I am thinking of upgrading my CD player and I saw that this player is supposed to sound as good if not better than a £800 - £1000 stand alone CD player.
What I want to know is, is this true or am I better getting a stand alone ie, Cryus or Quad. The thought of having a DVD player that plays CD's that well really does appeal.

there is going to be a new model in september, i think home cinema choice did a review which you can read online that did indeed sing the 9500s audio ability. New model is the 9600 which adds more features etc

THe only difference between the DV9500 and the upcoming DV9600 is the new machine has the ability to upscale to 1080P whereas the DV9500 upscales to everthing but that.

Another difference between 9500 and the upcoming 9600 is that 9600 has i.link for connecting to the new receiver sr-9600 which has i.link inputs.

Maki, i must insist that this dvd player is a very talented cd player, not not mention multi channel music playback especially sacd!! .I would roughly equate it to a cd costing around a £1000.

Unless 1080p and i.link are features you really need get the 9500 otherwise wait for the 9600.
