    QED Quinex HDMI-P
    QED Quinex OT Digital Optical
    QED Performance Fully Wired Scart
QED Silver Anniversary Speaker Cable 30m

This lot is setting me back £270 (not sure if other cable & interconnects are included within that for my install tho.... for products in my signature)

    Reasonable??

They're as good as most other manufacturers. You could save a fair bit on the speaker cable if you wanted though by opting for either DIY Cat5 cable, DIY twisted coaxial cable, standard mains cabling or Van Damme Blue Series to name a few current popular choices. :)

I would defo not get the speaker cable and consider the cables mentioned by John. Also go for a QED P2110 flat scart at 30 quid. The other two should be fine.

I dumped Silver Anniv for both the CAT5 and Van Damme. The scart I have mentioned is top class.

I would go with what sounded better when you auditioned the kit,

For instance i had an Arcam Alpha 8 which sounded great with the silver anniversary cable, but on swapping it for the van damme studio bi wire cable, sounded terrible until i wired up the rotel power amp, the cable really needs some power to provide the bass, now it sounds superb!!

its all about horses for courses lol

if you have already ordered the SA and cant change then go ahead as you have not listened to the CAT5 or the Van Damme so you wont know what you are missing. However both are so cheap in a few months time you should audition sum and judge it yourself against the QED SA.

It also wins them due to their advertising budget, as do Cambridge Audio CD players and amps which are vastly over-rated.

I can assure the CAT5 cables I have and also my Van Damme Blue Series are far superior in my opinion

Disagree, I have the Cambridge Audio Azur 540A and the sound is amazing, fantastic bit of kit for the price, if it is connected with proper cables etc.

I don't have a harsh word for CA equipment and its British!

advertising doesn't win awards, I disagree with the comment about cat5 cable being better: it's subjective! and there was no mention of value for money, I would expect cat 5 to better value for money but I certainley found the SA to sound better to me.

A lot depends on the system, trial and error springs to mind.
As for QED cable? It's OK I guess. Wouldn't work for me but we're all different.
It's like everything in Hi Fi once you get to a certain level you've got to have seriously sensitive ears to pick up the (often very) subtle differences. Same goes for cables.
Can't tell the difference between CAT5 and Nordost Valhalla myself....

What is the difference between the P21 (P2110) and the P41, and the AV21?
P41 is RGB, but the P21 says it also transmits RGB, and the AV21 says it does everything too!??

    Update:

The P2110 is fully wired, P41 is RGB only and AV21 is better quailty and fully wired.

P21 (aka P2110) is more than enough for Sky to TV! (and an award winner), so thats what I have got.

Which is better Mark Grant's Canares LV77S or this:

QED QUNEX SR-SW Subwoofer Cable Cablehttp://www.futurehome.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=332

Designed for use with the finest active sub-woofers, QUNEX SR-SW is a true reference for sub-woofer interconnects.

Silver-plated 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper conductors in a quad balanced geometry provide superb signal transmission and a triple shield of dual SPOFC braids and Aluminium Mylar foil offers excellent immunity to external interference. Detrimental circulating ground currents are avoided by implementing a directional cable system with the outer shield grounded at the signal source end only.

SR-SW is fitted with QED’s renowned Qunex Reference phono plugs that incorporate a split centre pin and locking mechanism. The Zinc-plated alloy-bodied plugs use 24ct Gold-plated pins and connectors to minimise contact resistance and long-term oxidation.

Silver-plated 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper conductors.
    Quad balanced geometry.
    Dual SP 99.999% OFC braids.
    Aluminium Mylar screening foil.
    Low-loss LDPE dielectric.
    Protective PVC outer jacket.
Qunex Reference 24ct Gold-plated locking phono plugs.
    Available in 3.0 & 6.0m terminated lengths.

I can't believe you'd notice a difference between the 2 so either go with the cheapest or the one you like the look of the most. :)

I only need 1.5m length ... which would be £29 from Mark.
The QED is minimum 3m... at £42

So Mark Grant then I suppose.

Know anyone who wants to buy the BK XLS200 speaker cable (10m I think hey??)
    :p

The Mark Grant cables are great so don't worry about it. :)

I use cat5 daily so i could have used that for free, but it's massive when used in the configuration i have read (1 run per terminal), much larger than the QED SA, and i am loathed to believe its any good...

Na, I figured the same way Clarky, just wish I'd found out sooner and saved myself a few grand.....
I'll agree, it is bulky though.

Guys for anyone doubting the technical merits of CAT5 speaker cables, I would point them in the direction of QEDs range topper the QED Genesis Silver Spiral. £60/m biwire speaker cable :

    http://www.avland.co.uk/qed/genesisbw/

It sort of puts £5 QED SA into perspective against £1.50 a metre CAT5 designs. And yes I am saying that CAT5 speaker cables are just as adequate as £60/m QED Genesis Silver Spiral loudspeaker cables. Now to those that have spat coffee all over their VDUs here is a some info you will find on one of the CAT5 threads if you search re. the Genesis cable.

howdo, i have the qed genesis bi-wire which i got for £30/m on ebay instead of £60/m
i have also put qed airloc's on the end which was fitted at a local dealer for no fee. £80 for 16 airloc's and they do make a difference. this wire is outstanding and the detail it delivers is second to none. it even challanges the audioquests hi-end ones. highly recommend.
