May sound like a silly question guys but i'm a bit new to this lark. I'm thinking of buying a smartphone and want one with windows mobile so i can 'browse' the web. I'm on vodafone at the moment. What are my options? Do I need to move to orange and get something like an SPV C550? or is there another option? I don't really understand how it works, do you pay for the time you're 'online' or is it free in the packages?

    Help anyone?

    Thanks

    hithere.
i was using a nokia 9500. the web browser on that is great!
it resizes everything to fit on that screen dimensions and works really well!
    however it is slow!
i now have an spv m2000.
takes a lil more getting used to coz the screen resizing isnt as good but is very fast!
so i recomend the opera browser and the pocket internet explorer on microsoft os phones.

yes it will have the opera browser.
i prefer this to the windows browser apart from the speed! i settled for the windows model. but the page layout on opera is much better

So, are my choices basically T-mobile or Three for the N70? Don't want to stay with vodafone. What's the way to go? Three seem to have the better tarrifs, but how does browsing work with that, is it inclusive in the minutes or do you pay extra?

i sell 3 so no the pros and cons!
the main con is: no browsing! they dont allow internet access!!!

no idea why! its shocking actually as the data speed is sooooo fast for mobile data.
so id prob stick to t mobile (dont tell the md i said that)

Great Kris, that's what I was trying to find out thanks. It's shocking how difficult it is to find this sort of info out, or maybe i'm just not looking on the right places. Ok, so I'm going with t-mobile by the looks of it. Is the N70 the way to go? Heard stories it can be a bit slow and there is some lag. Am I better off with an MDA? or better off going for one of the orange smartphones?

the orange smartphones are just rebranded oems and you know them as ........ mda!

seeing as ur looking at more of a phone than a pda! i think the n70 would be a good safe bet!
however if you were looking to cross over that tiny bit more towards a pda phone id go for the mda jam. really small! loads of apps browsing will be great, you can rotate the screen landscape if you prefer that when browsing.
    and it will be fast.

down points: the main one is touch screen keyboard. not hard keys like normal phone. might not be a prob if your not a big texter

yeah the imate jam. do a search on google but avoid any redemption offers.
even try t mobiles website! get a decent "web n walk" package.

the n70 is a good phone and when i had the 9500 communicator i though the browsing was great but when i then tried a windows based phone the opera browser and nikia symbian os couldnt cut it.

i think the killer decision will be can you hack doing texts with the stylus!
my spv m2000 has slide out qwerty keyboard but even that can be a pain due to size. im going for the xda exec/spv m5000 a huge phone lol but great layout and design despite the size.

    how about:
get yourself a deal on t mobile with a free imate/mda jam do it instore!
by law you have 14 days to end contract so try the phone, give it a week. if you like it great! if not return it, try the n70!
i say try instore so you cant get fobbed off bout phone returns etc or being put on hold etc.

word of warning thou tmobile are the only company that wont allow you to downgrade your tarriff. other networks let you after 1st 6 months

I've just read that Hutchison will be opening up it's 3g phones to full internet browsing shortly. Anyone heard anything about this? Am I better waiting a while?
