How do you get photos to download from an old to new iPad?

I just can’t get it to work!

I’ve just bought a new iPad Pro and all my photos are supposedly in iCloud. Yet it’s only downloaded a few of them. I’ve checked all the settings on the new iPad and it looks right...It’s only downloaded a handful of my iTunes music too?

Can anyone help? I’m sure it’s obvious but I can’t make it work!

Someone must be able to help with this...

Why have only a few of my photos uploaded to my new iPad? Why do some folders say ‘downloading’ when they’re clearly not?!

I believe the iPad has to be plugged in and on Wi-Fi to sync photos and apps via the iCloud.
If you have a lot of them it can take a while. Best just to leave it plugged in overnight and let it do it's stuff.

It’s only downloaded a few of the photos from my last iPad. None of the others. Come to think of it, I had the same problem on my last iPad Pro. I had to re-sync it all from iTunes. Not so easy this time as I don’t have a USBA to C cable and don’t know which one to buy as I don’t think they all work with the new Pro.:)

When I click on my photo files on the new Pro, it does say ‘downloading’ on some of them, but it’s been like that for 2 days and nothing has actually shown up yet. The Pro is fully charged and it doesn’t seem to make any difference at all.

I don't think the charge level of the new iPad has anything to do with it.
I believe it has to be plugged in.
I’ve had it plugged in charging twice for a few hours now.

On my (empty) photo files it says ‘downloading’.

Not one photo has downloaded in that time.

Unless they all come at once. There’s probably 2000 missing...

But surely in this age it shouldn’t take this long...

Thanks for your help anyway.

When you setup your new iPad Pro did you elect to set it up as a new iPad or restore from an iCloud backup?

It will give you an option to restore from a previous backup.
Have done a reset.

It’s brought up all the missing photo files from before, but hasn’t included any of the pictures! Other than the ones it downloaded initially. It doesn’t say ‘downloading’ anymore. Hasn’t found any of my missing music playlists either.
