How do you do forced software upgrade??

As above really, trying to help another member out in another thread.

turn off box at mains then leave for a minute ,then plug back in wilst holding down the backup button,should see a text screen saying its being updated.

1. Pull the mains lead out from the wall,
2. Hold down the Back Up Button on top of the HD Box,
3. Plug the mains back in, while still holding the Back Up Button down,
4. Wait until you see the 4 lights light up, on the front of the HD box,
5. Then let go of the Back Up Button,

It will take a few minutes for the update to download,
Go make a cup of tea or get a beer in :thumbsup:

The box will go into stand by when it's done.

Sky HD is coming tomorrow will i have to perform the forced software update once it is all installed....What does the update actually do???

"Forced Update" is probably not quite the right description as it doesn't always provide an update. It just forces an OAD of the last known good software version.

So how do you know what version you are currently running and what the latest version is that's available? And are there risks associated with doing this upgrade yourself?
