I have a REL Strata II, and REL Q-Bass 50.

How do they compare to the new generation of RELs (which I have always sworn by).

Good subs seem to be getting more and more expensive.....

I love the Q Bass 50 and Q100. REL's ST range is also superb.
As for their newer smaller subs...........yikes. The phrase one step forward and two steps back comes to mind.

The newer Q series are not up to the older ones IMO. Rel are starting to get rather expensive in comparisom with other subs.

    Yes

You can't buy anything new at that price of that quality. I have the original Storm and love it (apart from it's size)

I agree that the St range are fantastic, I would be happy with any of that range. Of course i would be even happier with one per channel! ;)

If you buy a REL choose wisely - REL claim their subs will outlive their owners! Mine (Q50) has been stuck down the side of the sofa with a pile of magazines and a waste paper bin on top of it and pumping out bass for over three years now, always switched on and never a problem. The older ones also integrate with sats that peter out at 120Htz so I've been wondering about those Gallo Micros everyone is talking about...

    Hi guys,

Been out of the home cinema game for a couple of years now and all my gear is pretty much outdated, looking to upgrade the LOT.

My query is, that I remember the REL range years ago being the bee all as far as affordable quality subs go, and always wanted the Strata 2 but could never twist the Mrs' arm enough ;)

Now almost being virginal to this game again I see a REL sub called the 'Quake' at a reasonable £320 anyone wanna shed any light on this for me, or am I better off looking thru free ads for an old Strata II or Q100??

    Cheers.

    Unkle,

Ask Uncle Eric about the Quake, I've never heard it but apparently it's crap.

But then I would be biased, as I have a Strata II for sale;)
    [and a Q-Bass 50]

It would seem from comments by several memebrs who have heard the Quake that it isn't in the same league as the Strata or Q100.
