My SPL has just arrived but what is the best way to use it?

I have the range set to 70dB with response at slow and C weighting.

Do i point it at each speaker as i play the setup tones or point at the TV screen as the tones move to each speaker in turn?

Just read AV FAQ which has a good description.

Which are the best tones to use -

    AV Amp
    AVIA
    Video Essentials

Best tones are probably those on a disc, which one i guess doesnt matter

As far as how to point it...... well set it up where your head would be, then leave it there and balance the levels the same on all channels

Id advise that analogue is a generally better one to get..... digital devices are universally more difficult for measurement

Jelly if you listen to a film soundtrack or something that is SACD or DVD-A and you think everything seems ok , it normally is.But a SPL meter is normally a good investment, and tweaking you're system manually normally gives that little bit better smoothness to the soundstage. As it has with my VSX-D2011-S.
