It depends on what type it is.

Some makes allow you to press a sequence of remote control keys.

Some require modification which you can't do yourself (at least, not without some help).

The website www.dvdrhelp.com offers some hacks for those that are hackable.

The trader www.dvdchips.co.uk may be able to offer help if it is not hackable by you.

Hi Nigel, and thanks for replying. It is a Mustek and I got it from www.autdirect.co.uk it came with surround sound etc.

It has been unlocked before, my mum did it, but I suppose when we disconnected it to move rooms it lost the code.

She said she just typed a code into the remote control but she can't remember.

This posts makes me sound really young - 'My Mum' LOL - I'm 26!!!!

    Hi galaxyblue,

Here's a link to a number of hacks for mustek players link

Hopefully your model will be listed there. If you can't find anything, just try a search in google or something along the lines of 'mustek zzz dvd hacks'. Just replace zzz with the model number of your player.

    hopefully this should work

    works only with empty tray
    press setup on remote
    now press on panel fast:
    next
    prev
    next
    prev
now you can see the version number
make your choice: ver.255 for codefree
and at last setup on remote

give that a try, if not ill look for some more
