Hi I have just orderd a Component cable and after reading around the forum I learnt that from hooking up my DVD recorder to my Plasma using Component that this wont produce any Audio

    Is this right ???

I take it I will need to attach another cable from my DVD recorder to my AMP to be able to get Audio using Component ???

If this is a correct any chance of a link to the Audio cable I will need to buy or even the name of it so I can search around for it.

    thanks for your help !

You need to buy an optical cable or a digital cable.
To get up and runing you can use any phono cable to go from the digital out of your dvd player to the digital in on your amp.

For DD 5.1 or DTS surround, you'll need either the optical or coaxial digital cables. I've tried both with DVD player and Amp and can't tell the difference.

What have you got available on your amp ?

I would choose digital first, then optical.

Stereo phono will give you that, stereo, youcan get pro logic but you need to hook up digitally to get DD and DTS.

There should be a digital/coaxial input (ie one phono plug) labled dvd on it, you need to take the digital output from your dvd player into that.
You can use a single phono cable to do it, you know, one half of a red and white cheap stereo interconnect.
