    Hi there,

I am looking for the hardware I need to let me get my PlayStation 2 game footage onto my PC hard drive to make a video.

I'm not bothered about software as I like VirtualDub and its free and edits everything I need so only need the right interface to allow my PS2 to link up.

Any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated as I havent a clue here:)

    OK fair enough fella

Dont really know what I need. Don't need TV or anything like that on my PC.

Just need to record a few soccer games (Pro Evo) played on the PS2 to upload.

Suppose I need a Playstation 2 (S video??) to PC interface, does that sound right to you.

No not really, I have a cheap Hauppauge - Wintv card it has an RF socket and it does the trick. You can have your ps2 output as RF and connect via that. Mine was about £30.00 at the time. That was a few years ago! Its in a box some place.!!!! Might see if I can find it for you.

    That would be greatly appreciated:smashin:

What sort of resolution can I expect from the cards in the range we are taking about? I'm taking it all cards must have limitations like everything else in life.

    I need up to 30 FPS @ 640 x 480 max.

I have just bought a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio that seems perfect for my editing needs more so than Virtualdub as it is very graphical and easy to use. Encodes too. DL'd the demo and had to buy it. Don't tell the wife:)

How about, if you have a DVD recorder handy:

Play the PS2 via a DVD recorder
    record to DVD
ripp DVD into PC and edit from there?

You need a video capture card - something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Newmi-FM713...9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1178708452&sr=1-6

I'm not particularly recommending that one as I've never used it (and it has a TV tuner that you say you're not interested in), but that would certainly do what you want it to do.

Just connect your PS2 to the video in port (composite or s-video), then record while you play.
