Evening all. I bought my wife a Debut Project Carbon Evo turntable for her 50th birthday and an iFi audio zen preamp. At the moment it’s connected to a Marantz NR1607 and some BW 601s3 speakers.

It’s the first turntable we’ve owned - I’ve followed the instructions as best as I can, but is there anything worth checking and double checking to make sure we are getting the best out of it?

Going to get a better amp and speakers for my 50th…

Cheers

Kev

Check it's level using a spirit level - check the plinth and platter and check it "north/south" and "east/west".

You can check the alignment of the cartridge using a protractor that you can download from Vinyl Engine.

You can also check the tracking force by getting a digital scale from Amazon and using that.

Amazon product ASIN B06XYHTQCM
Makes sure the anti-skate is set to match the VTF.

That apart, let your ears decide.

Definitely do this. Much more accurate than the scale on the weight. An ortofon protractor wouldn't hurt either.
