    Hi all,

I bought the new Dell 7537 but I want to use my crucial m4 in it, so I need to get Windows 8 on to it somehow.

The SSD currently has two partitions, c with operating system(windows 7) and programs, and d with my personal files.

    Everything is backed up.

I also have an external hard drive if this helps.

    Thanks everyone :)

Acronis True Image Home and a USB dock.

Acronis will image the current OS running on the laptop onto the SSD in the dock. Then just swap out the HDD for the SSD in laptop and boot as normal.

    The other options are
    1) Install SSD
    2) Run Dell factory restore if they supply it on disc.

    1) Get serial key from Windows 8 running on the Dell.
    2) Get Win 8 ISO image and create USB installer.
    3) Install SSD drive in laptop and run win 8 install doing a clean install to the laptop, then reactivate windows.

It is also possible to install the SSD direct and boot into Windows 7 but for optimal results you should have removed display drivers and SATA drivers before shutting the system down. It might still work booting direct into windows if the hardware was similar enough e.g. all Intel.

Thanks, I don't have a USB dick and Dell don't supply that disc so will look in to the windows 8 USB installer route.
