How do i get media to the ps3??

Hi,
Got my ps3 today, Set up my net and everything.
But just want to know how do i get media to the Hard drive?
So i can listen to music, watch video's and have pictures's on the hard drive.
Im just re-formatting the HD to partition it, is this right?
Ive still got 3 hours and 19 mins to go yet lol.

Any help much apreciated

All I did was install and run tversity on my pc, no need for re-formatting and partitions etc...

I just copied my MP4 movies, JPGs and MP3s to the PS3 from my backup discs that I had (DVD-R discs). Putting the DVD-R in the PS3, it found the files ok and pressing triangle on each file gives you the option to copy them. Not great when you have many but I didn't have that many so it suited my needs.

I also used a USB stick to copy a file but I can't remember if I had to create the appropriately named folder on the USB stick for each file type I was copying (movie, picture, MP3 etc) - (Similar to the PSP folder structure). Shout if you get stuck and I'm sure someone will help out. :)
