Ive just built and built a system around the Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD. I'm attempting to install Vista, but running into loads of problems.

There is a new bios available for the board - so thinking this may be the answer, set about flashing.

Instructions - make a floppy boot disc and copy the uncompressed files over. Couldn't be simpler, right?

Well, the bin file alone is 1MB in size. In fact there is less than 300Kb for all the boot system files, so christ knows how I'm supposed to do this!

I guess I can delete some of the system files that are probably not needed in the hope I can make some space, or can I just copy the flash files onto a second disc and flash from that once the system has booted?

Cant believe this system and install is causing me so many headaches!

one disk for booting, one disk for the bin file.

Boot using the boot disk then insert the other one and flash the bios

Have you checked the MB manufacturers web site for info as to if MB is ok for Vista? It should advise what recent updates to the firmware actually do. Does the web site have a utility for flashing the MB on-line? Many do

Flashing the MB is not advisable unless essential because a mistake or a glitch can result in a dead MB

OK cheers. Such clear instructions from Abit!

Obviously, I thought this may be an option - but didn't want to just try it - in case my new MB went poof!

Ive google quite a bit on this and it sounds like its very common! By the sound of things, they started shipping with a beta bios. Not very reassuring!

It various. I did manage to get Vista running, but wasnt convinced it was right. Ive got it back on now and I know its still not. 1 drive missing and it takes 2m 10s to boot. That cant be right!

Its a E6600 using standard intel retail cooler. It was recommended to use this rather than something larger! the PSU is Antec 480W in an Antec Fusion case.
