    Hi

I currently have 3 LK100 amps setup as ACTIV , tri-wiresd to driving a pair of Linn Keliedh speakers.

I am now looking to use the amps to drive an AV setup, inclusing the above speakers, so need to revert to passive.

My question is does anyone know what is involved in this process. I know the amps have ACTIV cards installed......do you just remove them ? Is there any changes to the speakers ?

Thanks in advance for your help / advice

    Dave

The speakers need to have the crossovers removed and re-wired for passive use. The amplifiers may just need some links re-soldered in place on PCB or could require some resistors replaced and links removed dependant on age. Linn dealer will know exactly what is required.

if you have a soldering iron and can read it is almost a DIY job. If the active boards in amps are not plug in type then you will have problem. Also some Keilidhs in early middle part of their production were sent out with passive xover wiring error. I'd ecpect dealers will have fixed this but if they were wrong, then turned active (which would have made them right) and you do not know this you might re-wire them with treble out of phase to bass.

So if you are at all concerned visit a decent Linn dealer.

    Thanks

Have spoken to Linn specialist who estimated about 3 hrs for them to complete work, although they recommended leaving them ACTIV & purchasing 2 more amps S/H to drive centre speaker & rears of AV system passively. Think I'll go that route when money allows ;)
