I have my Pioneer PDP427 arriving on Friday. I have never owned a plasma before. I already have a Targa DVH-5100x, a cheap dvd/video/home cinema system bought some time back from LIDL. Additionally I have a NTL cable box.
The NTL box has the following connections at the rear:
Ethernet MDI-X
USB 1
IR Blaster out +5V DC
IR Remote in
VCR-Scart
TV- Scart
Antenna
Cable input
TV Aerial

The Targa DVD/Video/Surround Sound has:
Euro AV1 to TV Vcr in = out/dvd out
Euro av2 vcr in +out/dvd out
Ant in
Ant out
s-video out dvd out
speaker connectors
digital audio in -optical
fm antenna connector
am antenna connector

I dont know what the Pioneer plasma has but i can copy and paste something from the web if that is needed?

I have no idea how I am going to connect all this up using the 'best' cables etc. What do I need to buy and where can I get it from? Is there a step by step guide to getting the best from the above equipment?

Any help very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Regards, Puja

Thanks for your earlier reply Andy. Can you just double check for me now that I have specified the actual connections available that that is the best route to go??
Many thanks.

I found the Targa on a German site earlier and it quoted and you do not that it has Component out? Now I am confused just looked again and can not find the one I looked at, damn must go to school and learn German.
I can not see your product on the English site.
So it is TARGA EURO AV1 to TV SCART
NTL TV to TV SCART
NTL VCR to Targa SCART
Just remember to check the settings in the Targa and NTL box that they outputting RGB and 16:9, these are not normally the defaults.
The overall quality will only be as good as the weakest link so use quality cables like Profigold. Buy these as a minimum, http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PGV7392.html they also do a version up from these http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PGV7000.html

Are you asking me if it has component out? Not that I even know what that is, but I copied the connections straight out of the manual so they are correct.

So am I correct in thinking that I will need three scart leads, the ones that you mentioned x3? Do I need anything else?

What about the digital audio in on the Targa, is that needed for anything?

Yes 3 SCART leads, you will only need the digital audio in if you had something that could drive that input and needs 5.1, example SKY+, SKYHD, external DVDplayer, PS3, PS2, XBOX, XBOX360 or external settop box that was capable of outputting digital audio.
