Hi guys, sorry for my complete lack of knowledge on this subject. My xbox is currently connected to a 21" Sony 4:3 tv with a single crappy speaker. I've got my old (non av) amp and speakers gathering dust in the attic, and wondered if i could have the sound coming through these speakers instead of the tv ones. How would I go about doing this? My tv only has one rgb scart (which the xbox is connected to) and two composite video/audio inputs on the front.

    Thanks

    :)

I'm not sure which scart cable you're using. I believe the official advance scart cable has seperate connection for red and white stereo audio cables. You coud get these cables and connect them to the amp for better sound. Alternatively companies like Joytech make Xbox scart cables with seperate stereo audio cables that can be connected to an amp. This is all assuming your amp isn't capable of surround sound.

If you get the high-def av pack, then you can connect your xbox to the amp using an optical cable which should give you 5.1.

You'd be looking for the advanced scart , rather than the HD pack , for your Sony :D

Theres a few in the Classifieds at the moment ;) :D

Hang on - he does not want an optical cable at all - he says his amp is non-AV, ie. stereo only.

Therefore what he needs depends on if his tv has stereo out RCA (red and white) - if so, just get a standard 2x RCA to 2x RCA to connect the tv to the amp. If not then he'll need to see if there is such a thing as an RGB scart with stereo out (2x RCA) - I would've thought there'd be a 3rd party one somewhere.

Not so lorenzini ;) . If he is using the standard supplied cable with his xbox , then he only need to unplug the red and white cables , and plug these into an available input on his amp . Leaving the yellow composite cable pluged into the scart adapter , into the scart socket .

I don't know what you all are on about. I already mentioned what he needs in my post. You're just confusing him. Try and read what some has posted before responding.

Thanks for the help everyone  Yes, i've just got a normal stereo amp. My xbox lead has the red/white/yellow connectors that plug into an adapter and then into the scart socket on the tv. So basically i just take out the red/white connectors from the adapter, connect them to the amp and leave the yellow one attached. Thanks
