I'm looking to buy a 42pd5200 (bit worried about the plasmatosis issues.. but I think I'll take the risk) and would like to get the best picture possible. Obviously.

The panel can handle a maximum resolution of 1024 * 1024. How do I achieve this via a dvd player? (I'm thinking about the pioneer dv990)

Do I need to use a 'scaler' box? Is this the same as a 'line doubler'? Does this plug into the PC Port?

Probably given myself away as a complete amatuer now..

Just seen on the Hitachi website that the panle supports these signals through component.. 480i, 480p, 576i, 575p, 720p, 1080i

Not that that means much to me!
