Currently looking for a 32" widescreen & have none have output for rear speakers. Most have virtual dolby wich i'm guessing is not very good. I don't want an external home cinema system so whats the best option?

    Bren,

It's the old "supply and demand" thing, I'm afraid.

Those few people who are sufficiently interested in surround sound will generally invest in a separate system, as the built in TV speakers will not be good enough for the front/centre.

(The basic Cinema Systems aren't that expensive, see Richer Sounds etc.)

You are correct that Virtual Dolby is not up to much.

I hope someone can recommend what you're looking for, but I suspect you'll be hard pushed to find anything worthwhile.

    Good luck! :smashin:

Toshibas ZP48 range in both 32" (32ZP48) & 36" (36ZP48P) models, both are Dolby Digital 5.1 sets, ie they have 4 external speakers and an internal centre & subwoofer (quite effective actually), they dont cost the earth either, for a non cluttered 5.1 system quite hard to beat IMHO. An £200 AV Amp & £500 worth on speakers would improve on it, but thats the cost of the TV.

    PAL PS too via component.

    Stunning.

Hi, I thoroughly recommend the Toshiba 32ZP48. The internal surround sound features are more than adequate for our needs and have really enhanced our viewing pleasure of even the most 'mundane' programmes. Regards, yt.
