Hi everyone, Hope your all a-okay :hiya:

I will soon be starting my Home Cinema Project, the problem is.... I need to sound proof one of the walls, It's just a partition wall (sounds like it's very hollow) and is up stairs so can reach it from the loft (I guess???).

Do you know If I can insulate/sound proof the wall without pulling it apart?

Really stuck on this one and would really like to have everything planned out properly before I start the project.

Thank you so much for any time and help
Take it easy
Keir

hi!!!
it sounds like you have what is known as a stud wall.
the dividing of the two rooms is done by building a wooden frame out of probably 4x2 or 3x2 its then insulated with rockwool or similar then boarded either side and plastered. i could be wrong but if you tap it and it sounds hollow then this is very likely what it is, especially used in modern house builds.
best regards

Nick,

This info is absolutely fantastic mate!

Thank you so much for your help.

Yes you are right, that is how the wall is constructed.

I think I will just cover the walls half way up with one of the suggested materials in the first link and this should solve my problem.

Great... Thanks again
