    Hi,

    Just checkin' here.

I already have a FireDTV DVB-S card which works well in a dual boot set up - BDA drivers on one and 'regular' drivers on the other... So, I'm able to pick up BBC HD in DVB Viewer.

I recently bought a DVB-S2 card as well, in an attempt to set up a dual tuner configuration. But as yet, I don't have a CAM or a Sky FTV card which I'd like to eventually use.

But at this point, I just want to check my card is legit...

Are there any channels which I can use to test that DVB-S2 actually works ?

It's just that the FireDTV PCB isn't labelled with DVB-S2. So I just want to check it works, before I consider upgrading my subscription in the future.

    Thanks in advance.

The DVB-S2 model looks very different from the DVB-S one. The original was designed to sit in place of a floppy drive (hence the name). http://www.elektroni.fi/?product=10971 The newer one while it can be used like that with the add-on kit is designed to sit in a PCI or PCI-e socket. http://www.digital-everywhere.com/en/alcms/index.php?sid=1187859689

There are a few DVB-S2 channels broadcasting Free To Air but not on the Astra2/Eurobird 1 position. Check out http://en.kingofsat.net/hdtv.php if you want to swing your dish around.

You would still need a CAM & card to view C4 HD & the Sky Retail HD demo channel (12324V SR29500 FEC 3/4). If you just want to prove that it is a DVB-S2 card then use the supplied FireDTV & scan any of the DVB-S2 transponders http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyuk.html You won't be able to view but you should find them on a scan. A DVB-S card won't find them.
