Just lent my in-laws LOTR dvds. Then I got a call saying they had a wrong region msg - oops.

I googled their player, and got the following hack:
    http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/Limit9091.asp
The dvd reviewer website details the same hack for the 8070 and 9091.
So i read the instructions over the phone, and they got to the setup screen as hoped. But there was no version and region setting as hoped.

There was an option under preferences, which referenced PAL, NTSC and Multi, so they selected Multi, but after exiting, and trying the disk (before and after switching the machine off) they still got a 'wrong region' msg.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I found more details on the multiregion hack for the player Here and this is what it says to do:

    1. Power On and Open the Tray.
    2. Press SETUP button on remote.
    3. Press 1369
    4. Press the LEFT button 3 times
    5. Press the RIGHT button once
    6. An extra Option will now appear "VERSION"
    7. Go into the Version option and Enter 0 or 9
    (This will enable Multi Region)
    8. To Enable VCD Veiwing simply go into the VCD option
    and Enter Yes.

Thanks Mark - unfortunately that is exactly the method we tried from the site in my link. Those codes to lead to a setup screen, but there was no option saying 'Version'

There's another method in your link, which I'll try as well.

Anyone got any suggestions why the setup screen does not show 'version'?
