I've got 3 DigiTV recordings that I'd like to join together. Is there some software that can do do this?

I haven't found a free tool, but a commercial option might be:
    MPEG Joiner.

Another more complicated solution might be to convert the files first to DVD MPG files, using the new beta DigiTV software, and then process these to AVI files using VirtualDubMod, and then join these files together in VirtualDubMod (which it supports). But it seems like there must be a simpler solution.

A work-around approach might be to just create a playlist containing all the files instead, and then just play the playlist, instead of the files.

You could try ProjectX. This allows joining/editing & demux all in one go - and its free.
