Hi all. I have lived with the following since I got my 36" PD30 18mths ago, but now want to know if I can do anything about it!

My Sky+ has to be set to PAL because in RGB (as many have found) the picture quality is very poor. I want to improve this if I can.

I have considered getting a JS RGB to Component converter box, but I have my Sony DVD player connected via Component so I dont think that would solve my problem. My connections are:

    DVD > component
Sky+ > Scart (set to PAL due to above problem)
Sky+ sound > optical to receiver

Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I'm prob missing the obvious. But as ever all advice appreciated.

I have connected a second input from the Sky+ box to AV2S using a S-VHS to Scart cable. I would't say its a vast improvement but it certainly looks a lot better to my eyes

I still have the Sky + connected via AV1 for ease when the kids & missus are watching and normaly only use the other setting for films.

    Hi mate,

I'm lucky enough to have a Denon AVR-3805 which does up conversion from S-Video to Component. I can honestly say that the difference from RGB Scart is incredible. You could get round you dual component problem by using one of these:

But it starts getting quite expensive this way. Have you looked at A/V amps that do upconversion as an option?

In my opinion trying to improve a picture from Sky by buying top end cables is a waste of money, e-mail them and tell them to increase the bit rate they broadcast in.
