how are you getting to work?

On a more serious note my flatmate said one or two shops were closed. I am off out to hopefully find the supermarche is fine :D

The only shop near me is closed, Totally trapped indoors, got no beer either:mad:

I presume the reason the Tube's shutdown, is because they can't get the Tube drivers in, to drive the trains?! Or, am I missing something really obvious here?

As Shoka says, only the Waterloo and City line tubes spend their lives underground. The others all terminate above ground and suffer from all the problems that normal trains do in cold weather with the added problem that there is less specialised equipment to get facilities going again.

Where abouts in Teesside are you mate? I live in Boro but I'm up in Newcastle at the minute, its stopped snowing and its sunny here now!

Stockton mate ..... its stopped now :( ..... still a few flurries every now and then though.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will be ok tomorrow, I have to drive 16 miles first thing because my son has an MRI scan in the morning...it's stressful enough at them moment without all this nonsense.

I feel old :(

It was hard leaving today. My 7 and 4 year old were jumping around like loons cos they didnt have to go to school.

This was our effort last year when I "worked from home" :smashin:

Cheers. We got so much snow here if we did it again today we'd have plenty left :D

hubby managed to get to london on the trains this am and is now on his way home :smashin:
i called the kids school this morning as i work there too......shame its closed today and tomorrow too :clap:

Same, no work for me tomorrow, let's open a who's going to work tomorrow? thread.

My place is closed till wed......blast!

Well the office has been released but I'm not in any rush at the moment- things don't look too bad and it is still light outside.

The car's being serviced today so I was always going to work from home. The snow hasn't affected me. The missus is back from work early as they let everyone go home incase there was no public transport.

I have to ask... which one is the 7 year old and which is the 4 year old? Because the one on the left definitely looks older than 7! :D

As for getting to work.... I drove there as normal this morning, but they sent everyone home at 2.

I love how the country grinds to a halt at some white fluff. And in London, why have parts of the underground been closed?! Surely the underground is... um.... under...ground? Where the snow can't get to it?

I'm Crossing my fingers for more snow overnight, and the same no trains tomorrow, as I'm off work on holiday from wednesday.

Ive done so much "Work" today my PS3 is getting very hot

Read a few pages back and you shall find your answer - A lot of the "underground" isn't actually underground, and most/all of the trains terminate overground.

I wonder how I am going to get home, I live at the top of a hill and had to slide down the hill this morning as the road was totally white !! I think I might have to park at the bottom of the road and walk up tonight !!

My daughter has come home from school with a note that it will be closed tomorrow. Apparently, forecast is worse tomorrow and a lot of the teachers had difficulty getting in today.

Seems a bit pre-emptive to me, perhaps the teachers are a bit miffed that their school was about the only one open today.

Cheers,

Nigel

If the teachers can't get into work I'm sure that my wife will feel less guilty that she can't get in either and she's a nurse

I hope everything goes well.

i had a 2hr nightmare coming over the tops of the pennines today - went from south manchester to Sowerby Bridge. to say it was scary was an understatement, i was going to take some pics as it was a nice sight to be seen but decided that i would prefer to go home and be warm instead!

Which way?

Did you come via M62 J22?

That would have been a bit white from the tops :rotfl:

spent 20 minutes getting the 4 or 5 inches of snow off the car, then crawled to work at 30mph. Usually takes 25-30 minutes, took 45 today :(

better safe than sorry ;)

my fear is that after having rush hour squash all the snow down its going to turn into an ice rink when i leave later on today
