How are good quality screens made? Is the white screen section painted/sprayed on? Or is the white screen section the colour of the material used, thus making sure the uniformity of the screen is perfect?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. ...I'm a bit of a novice in this field of expertise.

You could always contact and ask a manufacturer like Stewart Filmscreen and see what that will tell you. Stewart seem to be very open about their products when i've spoken to them.

Thanks Gary.
I actually ordered a sample set from PSM who do material for fixed frame screens and roller ones.
The actual screen is material and not a printed section, which clearly improved screen uniformity.
The screen I've bought recently is printed and the uniformity is poor. I now know what to look for when I replace it.
