Nice one.
I just went into my local Tescos. Got a charger with 2 x AAs (2100mAh) for £3.75 and a couple of packs of 2 AAAs (700mAh) for a quid each.
Charger is a bit slow (specs say 12 - 15hr for a full charge on 2100mAh AAs, but who can complain at the price!)
