    Hi

This may seem obvious, but would I be able to realign my sky dish and use my sky+ box as a reciever to view free polish channels from the Hotbird satellite? I don't need the pvr function, just need a simple cheap box for my wife to very occassionally view some Polish channels.

I will be moving to Virgin, so don't need the dish pointing at Astra anymore.

Would this work or would I need a new dish and box?

    Cheers

The dish should be fine. I believe some of the newer Sky boxes have a more restricted other channels mode, search the forum for more info to see if it applies to the model you have.

I a word, no, the sky Dodgie box is no use for what you want.

Cheers guys. Looks like I'll prob sell the box on ebay and get a new reciever. Whats a rough guide for a normal 12 month old sky +HD box these days? Sorry not sure on model just now.

There's only one model, but the version, 500gB or 1.5tB, makes a difference.

    Its the 500gb one.

Cheers for the help guys, as I say she won't watch it often as she speaks perfect English and prefers English TV. Its just I think sometimes she would just like to watch the Polish news and catch up with whats going (I know she can just check the net) and maybe watch a film. As I will have a sky box sitting about doing nothing I may as well sell it and buy a receiver and get a few free Polish channels.

The Polish channels on 19E are better than most European ones and should be fine for those purposes.
Any satellite receiver will get them and the Sky dish needs only a simple realignment.
