Hot water pipe blew off

Last night, the hot water feed under our sink blew off randomly and flooded our kitchen. We turned the water off at the mains after about 2 mins wondering what the noise was we have since had no water and the landlord rang british gas but they are not coming till tommorrow.

My question is, is there anything i can turn on/off within the boiler cupboard to use cold water only?

I have tried to put the pipe/plastic housing back together, but everytime i do and turn the water back on at the mains, the pressure just shoots it back off and floods the kitchen again.

why dont you just cap the pipe, rather than refit?

I would want to cut the pipe short to do that , so I had a good end on the pipe , maybe the OP isn't confident to do that ...
