Hi I have just bought myself a sony STR-DB790 reciever and wondered if i put my DVD player on top of it would it overheat? the DVD player doesnt cover the whole of the top of the reciever there is about a 1/3 of the ventalation not covered and about a 1cm gap between the reciever and player.
    Any comments would be appreciated

    James,
I wouldn't put your DVD player on top of the amp. The amp needs adequate ventilation (around 2" all round" and your DVD player could overheat, after all heat rises!
    Regards

You can purchase risers though that'll increase the gap between them if you have the space.

My "risers" are squash balls cut in half.

Basically, it just needs to be something you can put under the corners of the DVD player to lift it up a bit. Offcuts of wood or anything like that would be fine.

Thanks for that advice, i think 2 squash balls cut in half wont break the bank. I might go with that or if i have enough time i will get some realy thick round wood, cut them to size and paint them silver so it fits in with the styling. My amp has nothing with in about 50cm around it apart from my DVD player on top wich only covers 2/3 so i think it will be fine now.
