Ok all this fuss about horse being in beef,

But why on earth call this stuff turkey ham.

I've checked the ingredients, and it doesn't indicate some cross breeding of a turkey and a pig. So why not call it turkey.

Bernard Matthews died last year, he shouldn't BE producing this crap anymore.

Please, don't tell me his company is still alive and well?

    A bizarre post

So the owner of a firm passes away and you hope the company itself is no longer in operation?

IIRC it was B.M whom brought turkey to the masses in the UK

Don't know if this is true, heard it on Mystery Hour on LBC.
A ham is where the meat is taken from the thigh of an animal, usually a pig but not exclusively.... Or something along those lines

Indeed a simple internet search confirms this. You can have ham from any animal that has a knee joint.

I watched a food inspectors programme and they were targeting pizza places. They fined loads Asian owned places for selling ham & mushroom pizza, however it was turkey.

They obviously do this for halal reasons, & not as some mega fraud

So technically if it was from the leg it was still ham?

Although I doubt "Turkey Ham" is solely made from leg meat, any more than processed pork ham is :D

It's more that it is turkey meat cured and cooked in the style of a processed ham

Well, like everyone else, I assumed that 'ham' was from a pig. But doing some research it appears that it's just meat from the jointed hind leg of an animal, usually a pig. So I guess it can come from just about any animal. I couldn't finds anything saying it must be mammalian, rather than bird, so I guess Turkey ham is a correct term. As long as it's leg meat.
    Wow, I've learnt something today!

God well with horse in beef, and beef has to come from a cow..... Imagine what they can get away with, with ham!

    20% pig leg
    10% grass hopper leg
    40% horse leg
    10% pigeon leg
    10% rat leg
    5% dog leg
    5% cat leg

It was BM who brought battery farming to the masses. His company has always represented everything bad in farming IMHO.

It's been around for ages, replacement for kosher and halal establishments i.e. when they sell a Hawaiian pizza.
I've never come across horse beef though, well at least not labelled as such.
