i received a 32pd5200 hitachi plasma on wednesday.
atfer browsing load and loads of forums for picure settings i have come to the opinion that this tv has an awful picture (from cable via ixos scart lead).
hitachi problems have been well documented in the past, blotchy faces, lip sync problems etc.
i have them all on this tv.

thing is i can exchange the tv b4 7 days and at the moment that is what i'm planning to do however does the picure imporove overtime and is it really worth keeping?

if i exchange 1 have 1500.00 to spend, ideally i'd like a 32" - 37" screen but could get around my wife who thinks a 42" tv would be too big.
    what alternative would u recommend???

An opinion I share, not a popular one in some circles. I think you just get used to the picture. They say you can get used to hanging if you hang for long enough. The 37 panasonic you would probably like, do you need speakers?

    unfortunately i do need speakers.
i was looking at the panny 37 vierra, its 250.00 above budget but has some very good reviews.
problem is it doesn't come with a stand or wall brackets so they'll cost me extra.
i had looked at the panny pw7 also but once u add component/scart boards, stand/bracket and speakers it runs well above budget.

i suppose if all else fails i could get a lg!

We bought the same model just over a week ago and are delighted with the picture quality - it totally exceeded all expectations and that was after 2 days being spent seeing all sorts of demonstrations/makes in various shops (from laughable efforts in Comet to well set up dems from a specialist dealer).

Via STB/DVD/terrestrial the picture is excellent/superb. All settings on 'neutral' viewing distance nine feet.

From what you've written I wonder if you have a faulty unit? It's travelled half way around the world to get here... maybe it got a knock or two on the way?!

Could not be more different for my 42/5200 out of the box. Thankfully.
