I would also like to thank HD for his numerous comments which have been a great help in letting me understand a little about plasma. (If its only a little its due to my remaining ignorance not HD's posts).
Bobby_Dazzler could you tell me where you got your VGA cable from? I, like you, have just bought a pw7 (37 inch) with rgb to vga converter (not yet delivered) and have to work out which cables I need to connect it all up. So far the only thing I know for sure is that I will need a vga cable to connect to the plasma, but am unsure of quality/price. I will need a 2 metre cable.
    Advice most appreciated.
    Cheers.

    macrosse,

You are going to need a scart to scart lead (assuming that your source device has a scart socket on it and is able to output RGB) and a VGA to VGA lead. Look at the forum sponsors' ads for ideas as to where to buy and how much they will cost.

    Thanks Piers,

Ended up talking to AV sales and testing my proposed set up with them over the phone, before buying everything from them.

I'm connecting up 2 tv sources (cable and satellite) by scart to a master scart controller, through to vga converter. Does this mean I won't have automatic aspect switching between 4:3 and 16:9 or whatever it is? Does this mean black bands on screen or horribly distorted faces?

I'm using component direct to plasma component board for dvd and scart board in plasma direct to scart in vcr.

Just to jump on the bandwagon ^^

If you had 3-3.5k and was starting from scratch, needing tele, dvd, amp and speakers
what system would you recommend? I have an idea what I want to go for, but am curious how it would compare to someone in the know such as your good self.

    cheers

Well i would hold fire for the forthcoming panny 42PV500 before buying anything..... you need to alloocate your budget, is the system for music or just movies? what sources do you have? Do any need replacing to get the best out of the new system? What is the room like? who will use the system?

Depending on how long you can wait, some of the new LCD sets due out this summer might be worth checking out - new models from Sharp and Philips, for example. (Maybe also Toshiba).
