Horizontal Lines Fault on Samsung LE40A559P4F LCD TV - Fixed by tapping!?

Novice Member
Hi there. I have an old Samsung LCD TV (LE40A559P4F) that has an issue with it. A block of flickering horizontal lines appear on the right hand side of the screen. This often appears shortly after switching it on first time of the day and is currently temporarily fixed by tapping on the bezel. I have posted a video showing the fault:
After tapping the tv "the right way" the screen seems to work as normal for most of the day. Every once in a while it may require another tap if the horizontal lines come back.

Something to note: for some time the tv was talking a while to switch on, taking longer each day. This is when I noticed the horizontal line fault starting. I had recently replaced the capacitors which has solved the problem of the tv taking so long to switch on but it didn't solve the problem of the horizontal lines.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

You would need to open the TV and pull the large ribbon connectors that go the the panel and the pcb's and then carefully re-fit them. If that does not cure it then the panel has gone defective.

Ok I will have to take it apart and re-fit everything. I had thought that I might have already re-fitted enough when I replaced the capacitors.
