So it was that bad a a game but you bought the expansion??
A classic "Get a rise from the TLoU fans" post. (worked by the way lol)
I must admit that I actually struggled a fair bit with TLoU and it took me 3 attempts to complete it lol. Bought on PS3, played for about 2/3rds of it, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as say Uncharted 4. Bought the Re-Mastered on PS4 and gave it another bash....same outcome. Finally played it again on the Pro with 60fps and enjoyed it a lot more and completed it. The story was actually fantastic and very emotional. After I'd finished it, I had a much greater appreciation for the game.
To be honest, whilst I am really looking forward to this, with Nioh still gripping me and the Switch and Zelda arriving on the 3rd, this won't get a look in. Zelda or Horizon....whilst I'm sure that Horizon will be a decent game (perhaps excellent) from what I've seen, we are talking Zelda here and a Zelda release is always one of the biggest events of any console generation IMO.
I never said it was a bad game, to the contrary it's a great game it really is. It just wasn't as great as the hype train would have you believe that's all my views aren't factual they are just my opinions.
I will give it another go now that i've bought a pro. Like CAS i enjoyed Uncharted 4 more from the moment you walk down the stairs and see the original Playstation under the tv you then play Crash Bandicoot to the moment the Daughter discovers that her parents were actually modern day Indiana Jones.
I didn't mean to hijack the topic, really looking forward to playing Horizon it does look amazing. March 1st is that a weird day for a game to come out, aren't they usually Tuesday or Fridays?
It's only Nioh that will keep me away. I'm not getting a switch so wont have Zelda obviously. I'm in the minority but I'm not a massive Zelda fan anyway. Don't get me wrong it looks amazing but I can take it or leave it.
I just like to pre order and pre load before I spend my credit on something else.
I hear ya mate. Great game but never understood the hype personally.
I'm not caught up with the HZD hype yet. Might get it after Nioh is done (long way off) and mass effect been and gone. And that will depend on everyone's opinions.
I don't know why, but I feel this might be the next NMS, all style and little substance. I hope that's totally wrong, but I had the same feeling before NMS released and didn't preorder that.
It can't be any worse than nms. That was terrible.
I quite liked the actual NMS (not the hype fantasy version). But like TLOU and whatever else, opinions are like bum-holes, as they say.
As for HZD, if anything it'll be another Killzone (which again I quite liked the first for SP, the second for MP), and we get a game that looks great, but the substance is a bit lacking.
If I'm honest, the more recent Zelda games haven't excited me as much as the likes of Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. They've still been very good games, but I'm hoping that BoTW will really move the franchise on, in the way OOT did back on the N64. OOT is a magical game though and when I first played that through, it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. Loved it!
Out of interest as many on here may be getting on In years and have been gaming for quite some time. Has anyone read/listened to the book Ready Player One. I can really recommend it especially to the older folk on here who have been gaming since the early to mid eighties. Absolutely loved the book. Think it's being made into a film as well.
Moral of the story... GFX Wh0r3!
I thinks Stephen Spielberg is directing with Simon Pegg starring, must read this, heard nothing but good things.
The audible version is excellent and the first book is free if you haven't already signed up with Audible.
It is a good read and not just from a gaming nostalgia point of view, many, many other pop culture references thrown in there too. The story is a bit popcorn and can waver in places, but it does put a smile on your face. It should suit the big screen, but shouldn't this book have been mentioned in one of the VR threads instead
I have heard of it. I will read it at some point. I want to read that dark souls book next.
About the Book – You Died
Tempted to preorder HZD but I still have quite a backlog of games, have a fear of being burnt again like with No Man's Sky and also still haven't got a PS4 Pro yet .
Might wait a few weeks until people on here have played it enough to give their opinions.
I also have quite a few old PS3 games that CEX are bizarrely offering fairly decent money for (rather than the usual 10p per PS3 game) so might just wait 2 or 3 weeks and trade those in for Horizon Zero Dawn
March is quite the month. This, south park and dark souls 3 dlc.
You forgot Mass Effect Andromeda! Reported! Give yourself an infraction!
As a saddo, I've plotted out my gaming time between releases. For example, HZD, then 2 weeks until Star Trek Bridge Crew, then 1 week until MEA.
Unfortunately the Mrs has thrown several spanners into my schedule, by wanting to do "outside stuff"
Never played an ME game hence why I omitted it from my list.
Oh and south Park has been delayed again Addy, I think I posted a link about it a few days ago in the thread for it. (No I didn't, must have posted elsewhere, but have now)
Til when? I swear to god if everybody's golf doesnt arrive in summer I might dramatically fall over.
They've not said, just next fiscal year so anytime April till next.
I'll be all over this on the Pro and then Mass Effect on PC. Thats me sorted for a while with work on the backlog after that.
Will prob pick up a switch when its reduced and has a bigger catalogue of games I fancy.
Yes, though I think with HZD and ME coming in March it might not be a bad thing (not to mention Yooka-Laylee and Micro Machines following soon after). PS4 really getting into it's stride this year IMO. I really must get my long awaited campaign of Civ 6 on the Mac started and done before the PS4 release schedule gets into juggernaut mode...
This won't be another NMS. I don't have a Pro either but this looks good anyway.
Nice one! Just bought it on Audible.
FYI Star Trek Bridge Crew has been put back till May.
Strayed away from watching earlier vids but now its close to release I watched a 1 hour gameplay vid with the Devs yesterday and I'm sold, caved in and ordered it.
I had concerns that the release date could slip or worse still that this was going to be another The Order 1886, very pretty but with little substance and small campaign. The vid I watched showed off the open world, 1 story mission with a tough fight at the end and lots of depth in terms of upgrades to character and weapons etc. It looks amazing and my worry is I'm missing out not being able see it in all its 4K glory. I can stretch to get a PS4 Pro soon but not a 4K tv, I'll get the 'there's nothing wrong with the tv we've got' speech off the mrs.
