The two-part series stars Keeley Hawes as the real-life detective who brought five killers to justice in the heartbreaking true story of Banaz Mahmod, the young Londoner murdered for falling in love with the wrong man.

Written by Gwyneth Hughes, Honour tells the powerful story of Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Goode’s passionate search to discover the fate of missing 20-year-old Banaz.

DCI Goode discovered that Banaz had been to the police five times to report threats to her life from members of her own family.

Appalled that her own colleagues had missed multiple chances to save a young woman’s life and prevent a so-called “honour” killing, Caroline vowed that she would not rest until she finally got justice for Banaz. It was a promise that quickly became personally consuming.

Look forward to this

Episode one turned into a bit of a furrow browed weepy mess.
I had expected Hawes character to be of sterner stuff, let alone Keilly (in joke?!) the IT woman (of fittingly outspoken Dead Pixels nerd comedy), but clearly they are supposed to be the heart for all the macho dry-eyed men. Several of those scenes felt like either we should have seen them longer in the struggle to do right or, known the characters far better. Well, that or the writing was simply lax.
The two standout moments were seeing Banaz striking suffering face and the woman constable's cold and unflinching reactions as to how she'd still go forward.
Maybe if this had 3 parts to build things up and been less reliant on scowling, staring into space and crying it'd work better as a sturdy UK drama and not so daytime with occasional mature language

Completely agree. The weepyness came across as corny and was overdone. It was a superficial look at what was a serious incident.
