HomeKit or Hue compatible smart switch for dumb bulbs

Hi all - I am just finishing off my build with all my lighting circuits terminating back at a MK Grid box under the stairs, this way they can all be turned on and Hue can control them with Hue switches throughout the house.

The one problem that I have got to is the outside lights - I can't fit Hue bulbs as they are sealed units and I don't want to have to trawl through catalogues to find some new fittings that are GU10 compatible. All I want is a smart switch to control them!

Is there such a thing? I've looked at WeMo but they are apparently not HomeKit compatible ..

You'll need something like SmartThings and a ZWave relay to do this unfortunately.

Also, you refer to Hue switches. Any more information?

Sorry, the standard Phillips remote switches. They seem to have a decent amount of range of options via multi-press and can control about 10 lights each.

I've gone with some cheap external GU10 fittings for now - can't believe that there is such a gap in the marketplace!

Osram have some, but they're nowhere near as good as GU10's.

There isn't really a gap in the market. I've got 10 GU10 lamps outside. With Hue, that'd cost me around £300.

For that price I could setup a full HA system utilising ZWave and also kit out another couple of rooms.

I just bought some standard Philip's LEDs and a Z-Wave dimmer module. Cost me about £100 in total

The way you've got yours setup is extremely expensive

FTAOD the gap I speak of is a smart switch as opposed to smart bulbs. I'm using Innr bulbs so not that expensive.

I couldn't find a Hue/HomeKit compatible dimmer module, hence the route I took. When I spoke to Vesternet they seemed to confirm that I would require a completely new hub/controller setup but I have too much invested in the Hue bridge and comparable bulbs, not to mention the iOS and watchOS setups..
