I guess our friend X3ELS falls into the pro sub at home catagory, with his Genelec sub. He seems to be mighty pleased with it.

    Good post buns.

I am going to investigate this area too.

I've been told that This is quite a good sub by a few studio based people.

Has to be worth a consideration @ least.

Maybe X3LES will get to come and give us some views! :D

I had seen a 2nd hand JBL 4645c for $390 which was what got me thinking..... it is a thx 18 incher with 800 watt amp, easily twice the size of an hgs18  and is supposed to be very good. I think the new price is more like $1500, but all the same, thats almost in the svs price/velo price..... Im on a big search! hehe

The macjie there looks nice..... but its up another price notch which isnt so good for me! :(

too drunk to do a full answer but the pro stuff is seriously good value in comparison to the comsumer stuff, we ignore it and it is a mistake. especially the active stuff which can be BRILLIANT. :)

Interestingly I had a request from a Mackie owner looking for a replacement driver for his sub as he'd managed to blow it whilst doing a gig. He had been in touch with Dan Wiggins at Adire Audio to see if one of the Adire drivers would be suitable as they were considerably cheaper than the original driver and apparently were a good match.

Gaz, blimey he must've been cranking it!!!

Was that a unit from their HRS* subs or the PA type SWA*?

That's interesting to note for future references.

PS..The D-Train CD will be despatched tomorrow

If I wasn't going a whole different route, then the Mackie monitors would be VERY tempting. Would love to organise a 4 way MKPRO vs ATC vs Genelec vs Mackie face-off. The results might be very interesting.

I can't remember the details I'm afraid, I referred the chap to Adire directly as I didn't want to get involved on the basis that if things didn't work out I would the one refunding his money and being left high and dry with a special order part.

Looking forward to the D-Train CD, wont get chance to listen to it until the weekend though as I'm working away from home now (bummer).
