Hi, currently I have ps3, xbox360 & Wii in my living room connecting
wirelessly to my DLink 624+ wireless router in the bedroom. My PC has 2x
1GIG Ethernet ports which connects via 100mps CAT5 cable to the wireless
router only 1 meter away. The Virgin Modem also connects to the Dlink router
    via Cat5 cable.

The distance between the router in the bedroom and the living room devices
are roughly 5Metres through a plasterboard.

the 360 and PS3 both are disconnecting randomly from the PC while streaming
    video.

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to improve the connection.

Is there anything standing out that could be causing the issue, anything
    that I could try...

I have even been considering re-designing my network utilising Power Over
Ethernet adapters, a new N-Standard Wireless router...

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

Sounds like EMI to me. Read the many threads here on how to use utilities like Netstumbler to help with this problem.

You could also read the Homeplug FAQ.

Just FYI. Cat5 can support Gigabit Ethernet. The reason that your 1000 Base-T ports are connected at 100 Mb/s is because that is the speed that the Ethernet (100 Base-T) ports on your router support.

Not using wifi would be a good start. :D

Presuming you mean "homeplugs" or "powerline adapters" ("Power over ethernet" is something entirely different,) see the Homeplugs FAQ in this forum for more info. on them.

Might improve things, but you'd need N-standard wifi adapters in your PS3 xbox360 & Wii to get any "N" benefit. Without, the "N" router will have to fall back to B/G mode in which case you'd gain nothing.

Have you "done the basics" to determine whether you're existing wifi is utilising a channel that provides the best separation from the neighbours? Search these forums on (say) "InSSIDer" or "NetStumbler" and you should find some threads explaining how to do so.
