I have decided to make my own screen (too poor after buying the projector)

After reading this forum, I am going to use Dulux icestorm emulsion. I have a DLP projector and I think Icestorm 5 will be too grey?

Should I use a totally smooth surface or one that is slightly rough for the paint to key to properly.

Is there a better roller type to use?

should I get Matt or Silk emulsion?

erm.. Suggestions would be gratefully accepted. :lease:

I'd say (but not from experience) that you'd want as smooth a finish as you could get and matt paint. Satin may give you hotspots or shine. Fot £60-£100 (not much more expensive when you take away the cost of the paint, roller and time) you could get some proper screen material and mount that on the board you are thinking of painting. Just a thought.

I got silk emulsion and a super smooth roller - I will sand the paint with 1600 wet and dry if I have to.

I have done some car spraying so this should be a doddle.

The screen is painted and up on the wall.

It looks good, the blacks are black looking and the whites are white!

I failed miserably to mitre up some beading to make a nice matt black frame. A local Frame maker has said he will be happy to make one for me. so all is good.

I watched Raiders of the lost ark last night and the picture was staggering considering my PJ was a £900 business DLP projector from PC world, and my screen is a £10 sheet of 6mm MDF from Homebase with Dulux emulsion on it! :smashin:
