Hi all,

I am looking for a package that allows me small-ish speakers but also the ability to connect the ps3, Xbox, sky hd by hdmi and the wii by component.

Don't mind if it is a DVD built with receiver. Anyone know of anything or am I going to have to get an av receiver and seperate speaker kit?

Any help appreciated

Will also add that the tv is a Samsung plasma with 2 hdmi inputs.

Current set up is sky in one hdmi, Xbox and ps3 into a switcher and that's in the other hdmi.

Only really want to use surround for movies and some games so will still want to use tv's built in speakers for everyday viewing tv

Do you have a budget in mind? That will help get the ball rolling in terms of recommended systems.

An A/V receiver is usually the better option in terms of functionality and connectivity, but will usually cost significantly more than an all-in-one system.

300-400 I suppose. I assume that I just need one with enough inputs and also an hdmi output. Then some speakers to match the audio power output.

Any recommendations gratefully received.

Don't mind losing the DVD player to free up a plug socket as I can use games console and am considering a media centre of some kind for DVD storage so I can hide them away too.

Something like the HT-S5405 from Onkyo would suit your needs:

http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/ht-s5405-43101.html#

It’s essentially a standalone receiver bundled with speakers, so you get the same range of connections and functionality as you would with a separate A/V receiver. There’s no built-in DVD player, and the surround speakers are fairly compact. Unlike a standard all-in-one system, you will be able to upgrade the receiver or speakers at any point if need be in the future, without having to dump the lot and start from scratch. Most of the major online retailers have it listed at £350, so is within your budget.

There’s an owners thread here which might be worth looking at:

I really like the look of that - think it will be perfect.

On a similar note - could an htpc be plugged into this? Thinking mac mini or similar with all the DVDs stored in it
